origins of a classic design

The RISD ring was first created and designed in 1994 by Tamra J Mottl as the subject of her senior thesis: to successfully design and distribute a class ring For RISD By RISD for the 1994 graduating class.

It is a classic universal design bearing a portion of RISD’s official Benson seal that is right reading with raised lettering on one side and reversed recessed lettering on the other side. Roman numerals representing a graduation year are custom stamped onto the exterior of the ring and the interior has a convex vaulted design to make it comfortable to wear.

Patent protected and licensed by RISD, every ring is cast and hand finished to order here in Rhode Island and available to all past and current RISD students and Alumni.
